Online Dating Opinions?
I met this guy through a forum, and we started out as great friends, and we still are. Thing is, now we sort of like each other. I'm 14, he's 15, we've chatted through webcam, on aim, etc and I know what he looks like. Also, I knew him for approximately a year before I even started to think of him in any way except as my best "online" friend. I am not desperate, and neither is he, I'm actually considered popular at my school, and I know he is captain of his volleyball team, and from pictures of him with his friends, he is popular as well. So, what I'm asking is, what are your opinions on online dating? I've never met him, as he lives in Chile and I live in America (but he speaks perfect English, only with an accent) but I've known him online for a year and only very recently we confessed we like eachother. There's no shortage of guys here that are dateable, but he seems special since he's been my friend for the past year.

- i'd say go for it. Relationships can workout in the strangest places. trust me i know
- LOL... It's not going to work. If anything... continue talking to him online for a few more years and then you guys can plan a trip to meet in person (but make sure it's as safe as possible). Don't "date" him.. stick to the local guys (trust me!), and certainly don't do anything that can put you in jepordy. He lives WAY to far away, you're too young to date, and an online stint will only end with frustration and boredom.
- I don't see a problem with it, but long-distance relationships usually fizzle out after a time. Both of you have to be willing to make that commitment. I say go for it :D Also, though, the Internet is quite anonymous....you don't actually see each other face to face, as you live in different hemispheres. You wouldn't know if he was lying about something. I'm not saying he would, I'm saying, hey - pros and cons. The only online relationship I knew of did not go well AT ALL. However, that was because one was not honest with the other...I got stuck in the middle, but that's a long story and not really necessary. BUT I don't know much about it. I'm not speaking from experience. So yeah, make sure honesty is there and will be there. :D Good luck!
