Joining a dating agency?

What are the advantages and the disadvantages of joing a dating agency? An online one that is.

1. How do you think you got here son? you know that is how me and your dad met.
2. Advantages are that you do get to have decent one-on-one meetings with some interesting people. Disadvantages are that the chances of meeting 'the one' are so very slim. It takes up a lot of your mind and attention and can get a bit obsessive for little actual reward. You tend to become a bit too preoccupied with the whole dating thing.
3. Disadvantage is that not everyone on there is honest and truthful and it's harder to detect this online than it is meeting someone in person. Advantage is that you get to see profiles of everyone so can choose which people you want to make contact with and you can be pretty sure that anyone else on there is also looking for that special someone so you've instantly got something in common to break the ice. :) I've never used one myself but my ex-girlfriend did after we split up, met a guy online and they've now been happily married for several years. And at their wedding it turned out that the best man also met his wife on a dating site! So I guess you've nothing to lose apart from a few quid a month and possibly everything to gain by joining one... :-)
