How many times have I paid for a membership on Yahoo Personals and not one person was interesting and as soon as I let that subscription expire all sorts of people came out of the woodwork that I would consider dating! Why did my free Yahoo security package say it could download and then remove the Norton 2005 afterward? On my machine it told me to deinstall any previous anti-virus software first, which I did, successfully. But Yahoo's anti-virus is constantly "Off" with no obvious way to turn it on. On my wife's machine, a Dell Dimension, I followed the instructions, downloaded the Yahoo anti-virus and then clicked, as it instructed, to de-install Norton 2005. What happened then was a nightmare. It took well over an hour to do the de-install, not finding various lines that it was looking for, and, when it finally said "Finished", I no longer had an Internet connection, nor was the Yahoo package in any way functional. No service panel, just a blank shield. Worse still, the System Restore function no longer worked (just a blank white screen instead of a choice of restore dates), and, hence, no obvious way to fix the problems. Bottom line: lost the Internet, hosed the operating system, professional techie that came out could not fix it without wiping out everything afterward in his shop: Cost: $150. I fully understand that you cannot have two anti-virus programs on the same machine. My question was why the Yahoo package, for my machine (a Sony VAIO desktop) told me to deinstall my existing anti-virus program first and then allowed to download Yahoo (successfully--sort of--except I can't get the anti-Virus part to stay on). But on my wife's Dell Dimension desktop, the program immediately recognized Norton 2005 but said to go ahead and install Yahoo; it would de-install Norton itself afterward--with the total hosing of my OS that followed. To answer ShawnJ's question; We have DSL with a Linksys 802.11b wireless Internet connection. I have a toshiba 2GB with 120 memory storage and it keeps crashing.? Right now im in a hotel room in london ont.surfing on the hotel connection.I went to run a scan last night and my computer crashed Today I was watching yahoo news stories videos and it just crashed again.
